My advice - not either of my employers’ advice - to ANZ orgs regarding to US/Israel/Iran war cyber attacks: seeing a ton of activity. Some targeted, lots opportunistic. If you’re not a geopolitical target, increase threat posture. It’s too chaotic to fully predict and models can change at any time.

Something super strange as a pop culture millennial is that in this year 2026 you can't just enjoy the characters in your sci fi or fantasy shows, you are constantly aware of merciless trolling of the actors playing them in real time, and feel haplessly obligated to defend them on the internet. I used to work really hard to not be that weird fan who followed actors beyond "bravo" + applause. Now we all know which company the troglodyte who sent them a grotesque racist comment works for within 10 minutes and are actively discussing revenge strategies with them on instagram.

Currently, the outrage to the visible contents of the Epstein files is so mild that I have to think the majority of people just aren’t even casually checking them. I can’t think of a phrase to describe what I’ve read even as a forensic analyst. “Cartoonishly evil” is too gentle. Horrific. Inhuman.

I don't know how Teramind managed to get two people's photos completely mixed up with somebody else, tag a dead person as the future of cybersecurity, and include someone under community legal action, but this is the most egregious case of LinkedIn lists I have ever had the unfortunate luck to be included in.

Y’all, if you’re getting frustrated you’re not seeing the content you want to like news or intel you need on Mastodon, you really need to shift your thinking from algorithmic social media. Follower counts don’t matter much here. Likes do not matter to post reach. Without your interaction, you will just see a live FIFO firehose. Some quick fixes:

Hashtag your posts liberally and consistently, and follow key hashtags of interest to you. Hashtags matter a ton here to being seen.

Follow and also alert on accounts you always want to see content from.

Consider using the built in RSS feature for your feeds and for specific hashtags.

Consider switching to the more advanced UI in your preferences, so you can watch multiple filtered and unfiltered feeds. Or a different mobile app.

Use Fedifinder to follow all the accounts you followed on Twitter, and sync up your follow and block lists.

Avail yourself of the multiple public lists of hundreds of journalist accounts on Mastodon.
